Hi there! My name is Evelyn Scott, and this is my Bluesky. I am an author and academic based in Surrey, UK, and I am extremely passionate about women's health. I have severe endometriosis, and am on a mission to make endometriosis care more acceptable and less traumatic for women all over the world.

Is it me, or do these mushrooms look like they’ve come straight out of a Disney movie?

It was an absolute honour to sit on a panel at the Royal Society of Medicine on Friday. Thank you to the Menstrual Health Project for putting on such an incredible event. I was honoured to share space with so many incredible women and experts. We must keep talking, and raising awareness.

It’s cold and flu season again, and I am currently drowning in my own snot.

Absolutely delighted to be on Dr Louise Newson’s podcast today, discussing endometriosis, testosterone, patient care and my book, A Bloody Scandal :)

To Exist As I Am, by Grace Spence Green
‘It wasn’t a car crash, but there was a collision. He fell from the third floor. The life I had mapped out changed in that moment. The previous day, I had been treating patients. The next, I became one.’
Absolutely adored it. Raw, emotional and full of hope.

Mornings spent with my darling boy ❤️ I don’t get to ride very often these days, because chronic pain dominates much of my life, but he doesn’t mind.

And despite being on LOTS of new medication today, I started working on book 2. This feels like a victory, even when my body is working hard to ruin everything.

In other news, here are the wonderful flowers that my bestie gifted me. She is the most wonderful person in the world, and one of the reasons that I haven’t lost my mind yet.

I am gutted. I had a hysterectomy in February, but was re-admitted to hospital over the weekend in crippling pain. The #endometriosis is back, and it’s on my kidneys too. I knew that a hysterectomy wasn’t a cure for endometriosis, but to gain less than 6 months relief? This disease is so so cruel.

Well I had a good run…

The #endometriosis is back, which means I’m back to square one.

Gutted.

Instead of telling a disabled person what they should or shouldn’t be able to do… ask them how you could help them accomplish what they need.

Listen to their struggles. Approach the situation with compassion.

Offer genuine support.

That’s the best way to be an ally.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but disabled/ chronically ill people would much rather be working than being in debilitating pain at home everyday.

It’s not a choice.

Interesting isn't it, MPs who have well paid jobs can claim for free vehicles, travel, rent, energy, heating and much, much more.

But Disabled People who can't work and claim a fraction of that are scumbags ripping the system off.

Perhaps these MPs don't own mirrors?

Yesterday was a sad day. Despite my hysterectomy and bowel resection, my #endometriosis is back. It took less than 6 months for me to be debilitated by the pain again. I’m gutted, but trying to be more positive today. The puppies had a little play date which was a lovely distraction!

A bloody brilliant book. I’m currently in bed, suffering from hideous endometriosis pain, and trying to adjust to post-hysterectomy life, and this book is the comfort that I needed.

“According to the Endometriosis Foundation of America, there was only $13 million directed toward endometriosis research in 2019, which equates to $1 per year for each patient diagnosed with the condition.”

I spent five years fighting for a medically necessary hysterectomy.

Endometriosis & adenomyosis left me disabled. I was forced to undergo six surgeries, various hormonal treatments and iron and blood transfusions to preserve a womb I didn't want.

Why? Because I might 'meet a man who wants kids'
What My Hysterectomy Taught Me About Bodily Autonomy and Misogyny
We are more than our wombs and more than our ability to bear children. Yet our health and lives often come second to hypothetical men
