Th plane allegedly carrying Assad dropped from an altitude of over 3,650 meters to 1,070 in minutes, just outside Lebanese airspace north of Akkar. Reportedly Lebanon denied the plane permission to land. Rumours are rife, no confirmation if that was his plane or the fate of those onboard.

Australia's Threatened Ecological Communities receive less attention than Threatened Species. Public knowledge and understanding of TECs often a major threat, especially for TECs that mostly exist on private land, but is rarely considered in conservation advice theconversation.com/scientists-c...
Scientists counted 49 ways Australia is destroying the ecosystems we hold dear – but there is hope
Many ecosystems face multiple serious threats. Recovery will be complex and difficult – but not impossible.

*Don’t trade off #carbon for #biodiversity*
The scientific consensus is clear: we cannot address climate change by industrialising the biosphere. #Climate solutions must protect ecosystem integrity and support biodiversity, not compromise them for carbon gains.🌎 theconversation.com/the-climate-...
The climate and biodiversity crises are entwined, but we risk pitting one against the other
In our race to cool the planet, we must not compromise the ecosystems on which we depend.

Something to keep in mind as the Olympics come to Brisbane in 2032!
One of the lesser-known legacies from Vancouver’s hosting of the 2010 Winter Olympics was significant transportation mode-shift that could usually take decades. We had to shift 30% of car trips DT during the Games, & specifically planned to keep most of that shift post-Olympics.

POWERFUL catalyst.

Now is the time to think very hard about the merits of using a two ton metal box to carry one or occasionally two or three people short distances in urban areas. Being marginally less bad on this is not going to resolve anything. Electric cars & consumerism writ large are varying degrees of bad.
