I love it when academics publish papers that are like, "I checked and I'm still right"
www.jstor.org/stable/24393...
In this paper I review research since 2000 and conclude
that it has vindicated this view

Germany's justice ministry held firm and killed EU chat control (for now):

"Chat control without cause must be taboo in a state governed by the rule of law. Private communication must never be under general suspicion."

Admirably concise and direct. German in the best possible way.

Good morning to everyone but especially to all the octopuses, for today is their special day!

To celebrate World Octopus Day, here's an illustration of an octopus from the book 'The World of the Sea' by Moquin Tandon, published in 1869.

ngl we can try to rationalize as much backsliding as we want but “game cancelled because black protagonist killing white terrorists during reconstruction deemed too political” is pretty bad as far as I consider things re: mainstream popular culture

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

In an old ad for board game Scattergories in Spain a player was shown flouncing out while anothet said “OK, we’ll accept ‘octopus’ as a pet”.
“Aceptamos pulpo” has now entered the language in the meaning of “that’s a bit of a stretch but let’s go with it just for the sake of argument”.

Maybe something was lost in translation for me, but I don't think it did, no? I planned to go from Paris to Rome, and used a machine to find a good path, the machine itself didn't make any plan, I just used it to make mine

a bksy dev following the Heritage Foundation would be an unpleasant surprise if you didn't know this place was created by and for libertarian crypto bros, and all the good things about it are an unintended consequence they have been trying to "fix" for the last year

if you follow an old school itinerary/guide book that that tells you stuff like "to go from paris to rome, go south towards Orléans, then...", does it mean that paper can plan?
