New research shows recirculating #aquaculture systems (RAS) could offset carbon leakage from UK tree-planting targets by boosting local prawn production. Viable on 1.6% of farmland, RAS could replace 28% of imports; especially if powered by anaerobic digesters and backed with low-interest loans.

ESI affiliate Dr Fatma Sabet was shortlisted (along with Aoife Maher from CRPR) to participate in the @ukri.org Food Commercialisation Catalyst Sandpit in London (2nd–3rd July).

They've formed dynamic teams to submit proposals for a commercialisation award in August, so watch this space!
