Like the "debuff" is that every week, two percent of your credits/gold/whatever goes to your parents. So every seven in-game days, you lose an utterly negligible amount of cash and get rewards which are just objectively really good items in-game.

They are nothing but thrilled to see you, love you, preserved all your old keepsakes for you, and want you to be safe. Their home is always open to you, no matter what, and they never judge you. It's fucking hilarious for a Bethesda game to let your character just...have a totally normal family.
