I think the important part in this is that these two papers are informing on theoretical well motivated literatures with strong sign predictions. The null is therefore very informative. The point is that the students should worry more about studying stuff where the null matters.

Somewhat relevant maybe for macroeconomy is that health/social services segment of the labor market is very tight adding to mismatch. At least that is what we see in QC for the last few years. Probably contributes to low job finding rates.

So, I agree that one should not read anything about the health of the macroeconomy into this. But, to state the obvious, the observation that our economies and labor markets are becoming more concentrated in health/social care should inform lots of our policy choices in education, immigration.

I love that is slows the big SUVs the most. I would love even more a tax on cars proportional to their weight.

Maybe that is the problem in that this particular moment in history calls for thwarting Reps and Trump as much as possible.

The argument is that Europe roght now is not ready to replace what Nato provided. That is Rutte's argument, which he makes pretty clearly. He does not answer the question whether Nato continues to provide the same protection.

Very interesting, but ultimately if you are a oil major, you dont care whether the US refineries want it oe not. You care about the price it sells at in the world market. The discount relative to Brent was between $10 and $15. So, less valuable than wti would be but still valuable.

The decline in the economy producing stuff not regularly destroyed on the battlefield and specifically the decline in machinery shown in the stats linked by you does suggest a more gradually hollowing out of the Russian economy as investment in capital stock and infrastructure halta, no?
