My con plans like

Also this is about ideal for the amount you want to trim down the seam allowance next to the bias hem

Any more and it will show, any less and you get a hard ridge from where it rolls over. This amount allows it to fold over nicely and more flat than if you made it smaller

Crotch hooks
I use hook and eye tape, but the bra back hook sets from Goldstar Tool are also good (and cheaper if you aren't making 473957 suits)

Also I have bnnuy ribbons for the panel 👀

Oh yeah I made an entire jacket

Whipped up a princess seam pattern minus the center front panels and added rectangles for the center flaps

The tails are lined in satin for extra cute

This is a cursed garment cut BTW lmao
January 5, 2026 at 5:06 AM
Fold the little tail over before folding the bias tape down for the cleanest finish
January 5, 2026 at 4:32 AM
Bias hem time!

You do NOT want to bag line a bunnysuit, believe me.

Pin and then sew bias tape close to the edge and trim any excess seam allowance
Flip it up and over
Hand sew on the other side so the bias doesn't show on the front

Leave a little tail at each end to tuck under

There's a few minor fit issues but I don't care at this point

Here's me demonstrating why you should push your boobs up and into place if doing a duct tape pattern, or why you should do a mockup and fix that top of breast fullness
January 4, 2026 at 7:36 PM
The second suit was a duct tape pattern because I gave up on trying to fix the first pattern lol
January 4, 2026 at 7:34 PM
Added the red stripe

It's a tube of the same satin topstitched on
January 4, 2026 at 4:34 AM
Premade labcoat with red satin trim

Seamripped the hem to reduce bulk, sewed it on, zigzagged the raw edge, topstitched it down
January 4, 2026 at 3:58 AM
Garter

Still need to paint the pens red haha

It's two tubes of spandex, with one sewn on top as loops for the "needles"

Alright where was I

When the zipper is in, finish the rest of the lining. Fold it over next to the zipper so you can hand finish it at that edge later.

Now to work on something else because I'm mad at the concept of bunnysuits
January 4, 2026 at 12:58 AM
Use a big, chunky zipper. I prefer molded teeth to coil.

Make sure it goes from the very top to just above the back crotch extension, and stitch across the bottom to make sure it stays closed there

See what I mean by "wrestling"
January 3, 2026 at 12:05 AM
Official suits were made as a separate front and back and then fitted onto the Bunny in-house by stitching up the side seams

This would make the zipper insertion easier (also they used a lapped zipper), but makes side boning harder, so it's a tradeoff
January 2, 2026 at 11:59 PM
The zipper is the hardest part, since you have to wrestle all this through your machine

I leave large seam allowance because it's easiest to do small size adjustments from there

Note that the lining is folded back and pinned as to not get in the way
January 2, 2026 at 11:56 PM
When doing the legline edge, be sure to very carefully match the vertical lengths and fan out the curves so it all lines up
January 2, 2026 at 11:18 PM
If you're using bra cups, do them between the strength layer and the lining at this step. Just tack those in.

I also like to have the boning channels on the inside for added smoothness. For even more smoothness in weird materials, fuse the fashion/strength layers with double sided fusible fleece
January 2, 2026 at 11:03 PM
Do the same for the lining, but only sew to the edge of the center back panel on each side

This makes the zipper easier

This technique is called a floating lining, and will be finished with a bias hem
January 2, 2026 at 10:59 PM
Next is attaching the layer together
Start with the fashion and strength layers. Match up the center front seam and do your best on the rest, working outward in half. Sew up the neckline and leglines, but leave the center back open

Yes, just slap it on top with a raw edge, it'll get covere
January 2, 2026 at 10:50 PM
Hell yeah
January 2, 2026 at 5:33 PM
Next steps is -- guess what? -- the same thing but in lining

I like using cotton broadcloth because it's comfy against the skin. This is a very light pink caused by a laundry mishap lol
(The lining never shows so you can get fun with it)
