These kinds of questions from gamers are why we’re working on a (much longer) video diving into how this works, but the long and short of it is any physical “Switch 2 Edition” of a game will also work on a Switch because it contains Switch 1 software on the cartridge as well as the Upgrade Pack.
Trying to decide if I want to go continue going with the Switch 1 + Upgrade Pack for Switch 2 games (where applicable), but I’m worried about servers eventually being taken down and being stuck with only the Switch 1 version of something like Metroid Prime 4.

The latest major Switch and Switch 2 firmware update included this little quality of life improvement to the main menu. When Virtual Game Cards were added, there was no distinguishing them at all glance from physical media. 1/4

I love this video. But it also makes me deeply sad.
We only had the chance to interview her once (with missed promises to do it again) but “Burger” Becky Heineman impacted our gaming lives so much. Vinnk as an Apple II kid and Sean for Out of This World SNES and more. As adults we appreciated her contributions, genius and kindness even more. (1/2)
