Thanks in large part to Safe Routes to School (a program created in Marin before it was rolled out nationwide), Marin County sees 3x the rate of kids walking or rolling to school.

Over the past 15 years we've gone from 1 in 4 kids to 1 in 3 kids. This compares to 1 in 9(!) nationally.

This is a lot of deaths caused by cars in two years. Thanks to this group for raising awareness of this issue. Cars are destroying our cities. I'm not anti-car, but we need BIG not incremental changes to make our cities safe again. Like new regulations, new street designs, and accountability.

Intelligent Speed Assistance works.

New York City's pilot with 500 fleet vehicles recorded a 64% reduction in speeding. In particular, habitat speeders were slowed, data shows. The city is preparing to expand the program, adding 1,600 city-owned vehicles.

Adding to the tragedy of this horrendous act of road violence, Ghost Padron was about to return to their job as an outreach worker at Somerset West CHC. They should have made it home that day and then later to work, helping people with addictions my community. Every life is a universe.

When it comes to vehicle safety, New York City is leading the way! All new vehicles in the City's fleet will be equipped with speed limiting technology.

Now Albany needs to follow NYC's example and use this technology to save lives — by passing the Stop Super Speeders bill.

More evidence of the remarkable effectiveness of speed cameras.

Data shows in SF, after six months, "speeding fell 72% in September compared with the previous year at the 15 camera locations it tracked last month. Average speeds fell 4 miles per hour."

We see more and more American jurisdictions lowering speed limits and this is why. A: It works to save lives B. The time impacts to drivers are relatively small.

When Wales lowered its default speed limit from 30 mph to 20, it created a perfect natural experiment. England, a nearby jurisdiction did not.

Urban cul-de-sacs are a cheap, immediate way to calm down side streets. Cars can reach any address, but not cut through. Foot traffic instead good for business.
