I completed my final count. Out of 10,511 bus stops, I found that 4,360 (41%) of them could be removed to align with national best practices of 1/4 mile spacing. Long-form explainer article and an interactive map are forthcoming. Green dots are removed stops, black are kept stops.

A SoCal area went involuntarily off-grid. It is more expensive and polluting (that propane generator!) than most people realize. Part of our high CA electricity prices are due to subsidizing sprawl in flammable places. We built microgrids for sprawl

Chanel approaching 4th, San Francisco

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

Of all the major cities in the United States, Chicago provides the greatest value, with robust amenities and culture without correlated housing costs. But if Chicago wants to retain that status, some things need to change.

Commentary: Make 2026 the year to achieve real progress on reforming housing affordability

Breathless coverage of one person injured, not killed, on a CTA train, vs. a brief on Page 9 when two people are killed on the road. That’s because road death happens ALL THE TIME - 3 1/2 road fatalities per day in Illinois.
It looks like the number of transit riders killed this year is one …

The Louisville airport has a bunch of these Stargate looking things for car rentals now.

One time Hertz falsely claimed I did $6k of damage to a car and sent me to collections for it. My attorney sent them a letter and they backed down.

This new automated system seems to prevent that
