WEAPONS (2025) - Zach Cregger just hates moms, huh. Kids Naruto-running into nothingness is an eerie proposition, but ultimately it's horror that embraces tradition and comedy in the end. I didn't love it, but I can admire what it does, same with Barbarian. Both of these films are Resident Evil 7.

WEAPONS (2025) - Zach Cregger just hates moms, huh. Kids Naruto-running into nothingness is an eerie proposition, but ultimately it's horror that embraces tradition and comedy in the end. I didn't love it, but I can admire what it does, same with Barbarian. Both of these films are Resident Evil 7.
EEPHUS (2024) - Again, not invested in this world, but this almost Linklater-like or even Pialat-like depiction of "one last baseball game" is really haunting in a way. Hits hard without a bang.

BLUE MOON (2025) - I'm not really invested in the world depicted here, but Linklater & Hawke doing wonders with Kaplow's dialogue, it all takes place in a single restaurant on a single night, and it just moves, moves in strange ways. Beautiful.

BUGONIA (2025) - Loved most of it, there's some dip in the pacing near the middle, but great and timely. Disappointed to see that it's a remake, but you know what, it kinda fits with the theme: what even is genuine anymore. Fantastic performances. (Also, kudos to the Letterboxd easter egg.)
