My 2nd first-author paper, on predictors of self-stigma among individuals with alcohol use disorder, was accepted today!

Also, on my commute this morning, I captured this special sight. Happy Tuesday all around :)
20 hot air balloons fly above a setting full moon

A colleague surprised me this morning with incredible oil paintings of Humphrey that her mother made...how did I get so lucky?!❤️
Horizontal oil painting of an Australian cattle dog mix curled up in a ball. The painting has a modern wooden frame and is signed "J.J. 2025" in the bottom right corner. In the top right corner of this vertical oil painting, the face of an Australian cattle dog mix is in focus while his body follows behind him. The rest of the painting consists of abstract lines that match his brown, white, grey, and black coloring. The painting has a rustic wooden frame and is signed "J. Johnson 2025" in the bottom left corner.

When you follow a leader, consider what would lead you to withdraw your support.

If the answer is nothing, your integrity is in jeopardy. Your highest loyalty belongs to principles, not people.

No leader deserves unconditional love. Commitment is earned through character.

Was offered my first-ever honorarium today for an upcoming presentation I'm delivering on community-engaged measurement development🎉

(I can't accept it as a state employee, but I think the offer alone is worth celebrating!)

Also, as my title alludes -- I'm reapplying to PhD programs in clinical psych this fall!

In the meantime, I'm working at the NM Department of Health as an evaluation epidemiologist, where my research interests are being refined by real-world experience. Can't wait to see where it leads me :)

This is what is so difficult for scientists right now…we aren’t just losing #science jobs we are losing parts of ourselves

Bravo, friend! So well done. We can't just switch off what inspires us, especially when it is under attack.

Important read on how the attacks on science are going to destroy a generation of scientists and a generation of opportunities to advance science.

My op-ed, summed up: when you're taking away opportunities in science, just know, this is who you're being mean to...
Felicia, celebrating her 22nd birthday at the lab. Felicia, wearing a striped turtleneck, smiles at the camera while standing in front of the lab whiteboard that reads, under "Bragging Rights," Felicia is 22. Felicia, age 18, buying Unbroken Brain by Maia Szalavitz. Felicia, wearing a red short sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and a black crossbody bag, is smiling at the camera as she holds up the book. The date (June 24, 2018) and "buying my favorite book" are displayed in white text over the image Felicia, age 14, smiling as she holds up a pig(?) heart in biology class. Felicia is wearing a red shirt with bones on it. There is a very 2014-esque, grayish filter on the photo Felicia, age 12, lying on a bed of nails at the Boston Museum of Science. She is smiling and looking at the camera and is wearing a red short sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and bright red high-top Converse that were two sizes too big on her and made her look like a clown

❤️ this important piece.
Yes, this is beyond science funding and speaks to the heart of how people become scientists in the first place.

I wrote an op-ed for the Albuquerque Journal about moments that shaped my journey as a young scientist and are being taken away from the next generation of scientists. Because, as any passionate scientist knows, funding is not all that is at stake. www.abqjournal.com/opinion/arti...
