Amazon's mass HR layoff email reads like DARVO to me.
Deny: it's AI and market conditions (not greed, despite record profits)
Attack: yall aren't needed. We need to get more lean, and are next year.

I've been introspecting a lot on why I can't like stand my job more and more lately despite knowing it's the best path forward for my families long term stability, and the fact I'm good at and do like engineering...why motivation and focus are harder there etc...

Companies shouldn't be allowed to do mass layoffs while also experiencing record profits and otherwise doing so well. Sociopathy, greed, and capitalism at its worst.

My employer is laying off another 30k people tomorrow. Gonna be great for morale...but hey at least it'll make the quarter and year more profitable for shareholders :/

Sometimes I hate I'm prone to auditory overstim and sound essentially is hardwired to anxiety and other issues. Its frustrating as all hell when I'm otherwise having a good time. Even a pub setting becomes too much after a bit.

New day to day question I get to deal with 1) Do I take anti-panic attack medication so Im more present/less disassociated, but then get sensory exhausted way more easily, or 2) Not take, not be as present/more disassociated but then not suffer as much from overstim and noise?

Well almost two months off work for FMLA coming to an end. Mostly good came of it. I wish I could have done some more projects at home or time with friends but I did get some of each of those, and more so net good.
Gonna enjoy the last few days as best I can.

I go back to work next week after about a total of 7 weeks of FMLA. Not looking forward to it. The break is making me wonder more and more how I managed to stay in big stressful tech for 12 years. Might seek out a new job anyways soon here that isnt always under the looming threat of layoffs.
