The tell-tale sign of a well-functioning society: When faced with the unexpected, they pull together and work towards the common good.
"This was no nightmare. Indeed, the Great Blackout was the opposite. It was like a dream — a world populated only by the kindest among us, evil intentions quashed. Average citizens directed traffic at intersections without working lights."

This represents something that I have felt for a while: in a post-LLM world, authoritative sources matter more, not less!
The Mayo Clinic has come up with an approach to reduce LLM hallucinations.

Instead of RAG where relevant sources are included into the query to “ground” the result, their approach is to have the answer link back to authoritative sources. Then have a second LLM vet those citations.
Mayo Clinic’s secret weapon against AI hallucinations: Reverse RAG in action
To tackle data-retrieval-based hallucinations in non-diagnostic use cases, Mayo Clinic has applied CURE reverse RAG paired with vector databases.

There is a lot going on in this paper, but it shows that no matter their maker's country (China or US) or politics (Musk's Grok vs. OpenAI), models seem to converge to the same values, often with some fairly shocking results. Those values might be steered in the future, but by who is a big question.

Please welcome to our new brainwashing overlords -- now far more insidious, and difficult to notice. NOT.
A friend who is a leader in using genAI for language teaching has found today ChatGPT is denying DOGE exists or has done anything in the past two weeks. This capability is a consequence of steerable biases: it creates a programmable propaganda machine/memory hole.

Uncle Satchmo is, to this day, my top fav American musician.

Oh, and the bonafide "rags-to-riches" story is only surpassed by his ability to overcome adversity, while being gentle, kind, and grateful.

Mad respect.

Such massive overreach. How can they expect a company to accept liability for a product bought on their website, charged by their company, and delivered by someone wearing their uniform from a truck with their logo on it?!
The EU proposes customs reforms that make ecommerce platforms such as Temu, Shein, and Amazon Marketplace liable for dangerous or illegal products they sell (Andy Bounds/Financial Times)

To this point: The only quality of raging narcissists is that they are unpredictably predictable.

I'm not reading Twitter posts anymore now, but the less I do it, the more that site seems to have decayed to utter garbage -- porn ads, click baits, and bat shit crazy political rants and trolls..

Is this just the effect of my perspective ? Or it has objectively become so ? Honest question ...
