A whole article that’s at least partially about FND, with FND in the title, and yet without a single quote from a person with FND or a specialist who studies it.

Would the Sick Times find this appropriate for any other condition?

Why are we not worthy of representation?

Sorry that that’s the case! Hope you’re able to take some time to support your recovery at the right speed for you. ❤️

Functional Neurological Disorder is a condition where the nervous system doesn’t function properly despite no structural damage. Key quotes:
“Because there is no damage to the nervous system, you have the potential to get better.”

Great to see this out, as well as all the deliberation that went into it! A hard-won consensus

Positive proposal by ILAE to move away from “PNES” which is criticized as “psychogenic” & implies mind–body dualism. “Nonepileptic” only defines the diagnosis negatively. “FDS” improves consistency in clinical practice and research. Thanks @fndportal.bsky.social for highlighting this. 💚🧡

Just found my notes from the day I got a call from the NIH’s Undiagnosed Disease Network, telling me I’d been accepted to the program and that they had a dx they’d like to test.

First time I’d ever heard of FND.

Written in my notebook for the intro neuroscience book (Bear et al) I was working thru
A notebook containing notes in the margin that say “Functional Neurological Disorder” after several incorrect spellings of the acronym
