I also love the idea that Zelda is a common royal name, so of course something is going to happen to this generation’s Zelda. And she was saved by Link? My dude, every other parent names their kid after the famous hero. It’s the “Mohammed” of Hyrule. If anyone saves Zelda, odds are his name is Link.

did you know that Ready Player One (the novel, admittedly the least attractive 80's nostalgia focused work in history), in all its 80's pop culture fart-huffing and constant, constant references, never brings up Michael Jackson once
i'm being overly flippant for comedic reasons but I do think a lot of the images of "nostalgia" about lots of kinds of pop culture (far beyond games, far beyond the 2000's) are by and for specific demographics more than others
