Having become very erratic in it's appearances throughout 2025, I was delighted to catch up with the Double-crested Cormorant at Doon Lough for the first time since December 2024.

Went to explore Exminster Marshes this morning and it was also fantastic! I don’t know why it’s taken over a year living in Devon to start properly exploring these places. Loads of birds spending their winter feeding on the slightly flooded fields. #Birds #DevonBirds #WildlifePhotography #UKWildlife

Solid thread here about the framing of geological sciences. Coming from the paleo side of things, I tend to view geology as a reflection of natural history, and that's what I find so amazing about it, but that's not where most geology majors get their jobs.

However, I think it’s making a mistake I commonly hear geologists make with regards to current events.
