This weekend's Pick of the Pumps.

Be quick if you want the Centennial Simcoe or Lupulin Pastilles, they're both delicious and flying out.

And there's a reason Blimey, Chinook and Jamestown are all old favourites, they're all excellent and won't be on long either. 1/2

*glances out of the window at the gloom

We do keep banging on about the contents of our dark pump but by crikey, this Black Porter from @wishbonebrewery.bsky.social is looking pretty damn appealing as we slide towards the weekend.

2015 must have been a vintage year for new breweries.

This week, #Rochdale's Serious Brewing Company celebrates its 10th anniversary.

We're celebrating it too, with a range of their finest ales on this weekend, including their award winning Goldrush and Moonlight.

Happy birthday!

Last weekend, one of the directors had promising results from initial trials investigating the concept of the 'homeopathic hair of the dog'.

It's another exciting low/no application, in addition to them being very nice to drink when you really don't need any alcohol. Currently on. 👇

We leave no stone unturned in our quest for tasty brews for you. In this example travelling for 58 whole minutes to Hetton in the Yorkshire Dales.

The object of our quest, the Dark Horse Brewery, our prize, their Hetton Pale and Nightjar brews.

We've a frightful range of beers on this #Halloween weekend. 💀

We've finally got casks of Pictish's Alchemist's Ale in, one of only two they don't brew year round; definitely worth the wait. 🧙‍♂️

Likewise the very highly rated Black Cat Reserve from @moorhousesbrew.bsky.social 🐈‍⬛

Get amongst it.

Our terrifying #Halloween sound track this Friday comes from these curious units - The Last Night of the Lights.

Not sure Bluesky provides enough characters to describe these er, characters so you're probably better off just checking this tune

Treat yourselves to some harrowing antics at the Fox this #Halloween weekend, or simply accept it as an elaborate justification to drink nice beer in a costume.

We have goings on going on this Friday and Sunday, should you dare to join us.

Another day dawns in Hebbywood, West Yorkshire's hottest location for the production of moving pictures.

If you're feeling the chill after gawping at drones and celebs all day, come and get your chops around this warming Parkin Stout from @abbeydalebeers.bsky.social

This October the pub's showcasing local mixed media abstract painter and poet, Florence Hutchinson.

Florence works instinctually and spontaneously, drawn by emotion or a fragment of a memory. She also writes visceral poetry about folklore, strange local history, motherhood, botany and horror.

Looking forward to the arrival of this Green Hop Bitter from @runawaybrewery.bsky.social and @trackbrewingco.bsky.social featuring Fuggles, Prima Donna and Hersbrucker hops grown and harvested in Manchester of all places!

A bumper harvest this year, by all accounts.

Can't think of a better place to spend a wet weekend than the pub. And to mark the end of #Oktoberfest we have a range of German style beers making their way to the pumps. Come down and try something different.

The Good Beer Guide 2026 has landed! Love that our entry foregrounds our "warm welcome to locals and visitors alike", thank you @camraofficial.bsky.social.

It's lovely recognition for all of our team, especially our cellarman Andrew for sourcing, handling, and serving great real ale. Cheers! 🍻

Capital! You'll love it, can't even enjoy the view without some history getting in the way. 😄

What are you up to this weekend? The weather doesn't look too shabby if you fancy a stroll.

Among many beers, this weekend we have these two beauties from Anthology over in Leeds.

On cask, Canapé a west coast table beer, on keg, Canopy, a west coast pale.

We assume both refer to Fleetwood.

Just had Gary from Marketing on to say we need to push more dark beer because it matches the glasses.

Told him we always have a dark pump on and they're always delicious.

Still craving dark beer. 🖤

We have this classic Irish stout from Leeds' Anthology Brewing Company waiting to be tapped, looks delicious so now trying to figure out when to pop in to get my chops round it.

Ah. A cautionary tale. Life moves pretty quick. You dream about a stout all week. Finally make it to the pub on the Saturday.

Several delicious pints of Abyss in and it's gone. Next thing you know it's YET ANOTHER delicious dark brew. But this time involving a wizard.
September 6, 2025 at 6:06 PM
Several Fox and Goose special envoys recently undertook a vital research expedition to the @wishbonebrewery.bsky.social 10th anniversary tap room. We salute their commitment to leaving no beer mat unturned.

20/09 Sallows play trad folk music about working and not working, summer, winter and all things, taking influence from magic mushrooms and plenty of the golden amber.

Ivy Hughes-Dennis is a ranting anarchist comedy folk musician (she promises that’s not as bad as it sounds).

8pm: Free/donations
September 5, 2025 at 5:45 AM
Once your lot have finished that off we'll be moving onto Abyss from @wishbonebrewery.bsky.social on the dark pump.

Perhaps a more approachable prospect and one to cosy in with as the evenings draw in during #StoutSeason. 🖤
September 2, 2025 at 6:01 AM
Right! Meteorological #autumn is upon us, when thoughts turn to darker drinks...

Drew's way ahead of us having jumped straight to Durham Brewery's 10% imperial stout 'Temptation'. Easy tiger!

Sounds delicious though, can we tempt you in for a wee glass? 1/2
