Ah well, now this is a nice thing. Reflections on favourite drinking spots, self, life and change.

Thinking on, should it be the objective of a pub to create such spaces, and to hold them as we and the world change around them?

No pressure then.

It's Community Business Week. Pubs are vital to communities and social cohesion, places where we can come together across divides in a warm and welcoming space.

It's #HebdenBridge Open Studios next weekend, here's a little taster of what's on offer.

Experience suggests that trawling studios for excellent art is thirsty work, while a pint can help facilitate reflection on your haul.

This weekend's Pick of the Pumps.

Be quick if you want the Centennial Simcoe or Lupulin Pastilles, they're both delicious and flying out.

And there's a reason Blimey, Chinook and Jamestown are all old favourites, they're all excellent and won't be on long either. 1/2

Keep going along the towpath, cross the canal bridge by the Little Theatre, continue on the opposite towpath, taking a right at the next bridge, then take a left up the hill after the Co-op and we're on the right at the traffic lights.

You're welcome. 🍻

*glances out of the window at the gloom

We do keep banging on about the contents of our dark pump but by crikey, this Black Porter from @wishbonebrewery.bsky.social is looking pretty damn appealing as we slide towards the weekend.

2015 must have been a vintage year for new breweries.

This week, #Rochdale's Serious Brewing Company celebrates its 10th anniversary.

We're celebrating it too, with a range of their finest ales on this weekend, including their award winning Goldrush and Moonlight.

Happy birthday!

Last weekend, one of the directors had promising results from initial trials investigating the concept of the 'homeopathic hair of the dog'.

It's another exciting low/no application, in addition to them being very nice to drink when you really don't need any alcohol. Currently on. 👇

In case you're wondering, our town #HebdenBridge isn't in a national park. Something mulled on by @jpspencer.bsky.social in this post.

Not the first time a designation has been proposed for the South Pennines; an area named after an @ordnancesurvey.bsky.social map. 🙃
Only one upland area of England remains an unprotected landscape. So why is the South Pennines area between Leeds and Manchester a tricky area to deal with?

Read more about the unique history of the place and what it means for the future in the post below.

We used to love an apple day at the Fox not sure we've got one this year, which is a shame given that it's been a bumper year for them.
