While vitamin supplementation can help support your immune system, they pale in comparison to the efficacy of vaccines in preventing certain infections, like measles.
Vitamins vs. Vaccines: Fighting Infections with the Right Tools
Can Vitamin Supplements Prevent Measles and Other Infections? With the widespread measles outbreaks making headlines, many people turn to vitamin supplements for an immune boost. Public health officials recently encouraged the use of Vitamin A supplementation for the outbreaks in Texas. While having sufficient levels of vitamins like Vitamin A, D, C, and E can play crucial roles in supporting immune function, can they actually…

Vitamin A doesn't prevent measles
March 5, 2025 at 10:13 PM
I knew it was too good to be true.
Yesterday, a lead spokesperson for HHS abruptly quit after 2 weeks because of a disagreement with RFK Jr. over messaging related to the measles outbreak. Today, RFK Jr. refused to promote vaccination in the media and instead made comments undermining the safety and effectiveness of MMR vaccine.

It wasn't on my bingo card to see this from #RFKJR. Glad to see this.
"Vaccines not only protect individual children from measles, but also contribute to community immunity, protecting those who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons."

Vaccines work by training the immune system to recognize and fight diseases before encountering them naturally. They go through a rigorous pre-approval process and a post-release monitoring program to ensure a high level of safety.
The Science Behind Vaccines: How They Work and Why They’re Safe
Introduction Vaccines have revolutionized modern medicine, preventing millions of deaths and significantly reducing the burden of infectious diseases. However, despite their proven effectiveness, some people still have concerns about how vaccines work and their safety. In this post, we’ll break down the science behind vaccines, explain how they stimulate immunity, and discuss the rigorous safety measures in place to ensure they remain one of the safest medical interventions available.

Measles guidance provided by RFK Jr. includes information about administering vitamin A to measles patients, so I wanted to share this helpful graphic from the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. Vitamin A alone does not prevent measles. Vaccination does. @nfidvaccines.bsky.social

Perhaps it is because we keep using science to counter their lies, myths, and misconceptions, so they are cutting off access to the science.

Hey DOGE, if you are listening over here on #Bluesky, this seems like a great way to make efficient use of federal funds. Please share this with HHS Sec. Kennedy.
Idk, seems relevant
"...every $1 spent on childhood immunizations results in a savings of approx. $11. With discounted vaccine prices, every $1 spent on [Vaccines for Children] program results in even further savings."

VFC = funded by CMS -> Medicaid

Even vaccine skeptic Sec. Kennedy knows increasing group immunity is the way out of this as he is sending emergency MMR vaccines to TX from the federal stockpile.
✅Measles was declared eliminated in U.S. in 2000 due to the measles vaccine.

This entire thread is important to read.
RFK Jr. thinks that a clinical trial should be done for the entire childhood vaccine schedule. Here’s why that will never happen.

1. You can’t do a randomized trial of something that we already know is safe and effective. There would have to be a placebo group that didn’t get vaxxed. Unethical.

On Friday night, HHS ordered CDC to take down all flu vaccine campaign materials from its website. Materials are starting to come down.
For example, a campaign explaining that flu shot can reduce flu severity from "wild to mild" is now offline. Left image is from Friday, right is now

I admit it. I'm biased. I'm biased towards science and expertise when it comes to medical advice. Things changed this week, so I had to speak up.
An admission about my biases
I want one of my first posts to introduce myself and let you know where I am coming from.  I grew up in a small town in a Southern state, graduated at the top of my high school class and did the same at the state university I attended, with an Honors degree in Zoology, and minors in Psychology, Chemistry, and Spanish.
