Our spectacular son Nick has edited a book on the American Revolution that's coming out soon. He says he knows nothing about it--the Revolution, that is. He knows about the book. Reassuring, kinda.

Media with cartoons like the @newyorker.com should occasionally run one that deliberately isn't funny. It'd get people to talk about both the cartoon and the medium. Lateral PR. Eyes on the prize.

He's bubonic.
Some Trump not winning data from Economist/YouGov.
Approve/disapprove:
25%-61% - Tearing down the East Wing
19%-60% - Invading Venezuela
18%-66% - Renaming Kennedy Center
And by 74%-11% Americans want Trump to get Congressional approval for invading Venezuela.

So we may have found the single most unpopular thing Trump has done in 2025 - the vainglorious renaming of the Kennedy Center after himself (via Economist/YouGov):

18% approve, 66% disapprove

These people are bubonic.
Never underestimate the threat Stephen Miller represents to America

Because long after Trump is gone, Miller will remain-spouting racist, xenophobic lies to a large segment of the US, which seems all too willing to villainize immigrants

We must defeat this blight on our nation-swiftly and forever

She and her overlords are bubonic.
The fucking gall. She has never been a journalist, and her version of building trust is giving a veto to Stephen Miller (or Donald Trump) about whether they are sending innocents to be tortured in a foreign gulag. The Who-Me destruction of institutions is a pervasive modern cancer in society
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

Chatterton's opinion is bubonic.
it requires an absolutely staggering lack of self awareness for chatterton to complain that he has lost elite opportunities because he has anti-woke views.
The Other Way the ‘Super Woke’ Left Discriminates
Race and gender aren’t the only categories that determine who gets special treatment.

They're bubonic.
If I decided it was too much bother to clean my house so I moved into an igloo in Antarctica for the rest of my life, you'd think I was awful stupid.
Tech bros deciding they'd lose too much profit if they stopped destroying the Earth because they can move to Mars someday is even stupider.

I've been struck down by some kind of lurgy and my child has broken her foot.

To say I'm struggling with finding some holiday cheer is an understatement.

Our family celebrates Jul so my big cooking day is today and I'm not feeling it.

Cute pet pics appreciated.

Deeper and Deeper

No one’s going to mistake the shrill soprano of Bari Weiss for the buttery bass of Barry White, but she’s turned CBS News into Trump’s love Unlimited Orchestra. I don’t think David Ellison’s ever ever gonna give her up.

All high Trumpers and assistant Trumpers are bubonic.
Sorry, but I believe the letter Epstein reportedly wrote to Nassar is the real deal - and I believe that because DOJ and the FBI say it's a fake.

We KNOW they've and they continue to lie. Unless a trustworthy third party analysis agrees with their conclusion, I'll consider it authentic.

I've now watched the censored 60 Minutes report on CECOT. If you watched it too—and if you have any decency at all—I'm sure you came to the same conclusion I did: winning elections won't be enough; people like Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem will need to be charged and imprisoned.

I’d certainly take them over a mortuary molester like Stephen Miller.
I'd be delighted to have a hairstylist or a youth soccer coach visit for a night

Of course it’s the business school that is working with administration to shove AI down the throats of faculty.
If you think I'm going to pay $80k a year in tuition you better believe I want my kid taught by an underpaid human TA who is slowly beating eaten alive by ennui and his marinating feelings of grievance over the impossibility of ever landing a tenure track job.
