DAYUM‼️Ana Navarro does not mince words when she calls out Trump’s vile Truth Social post about Rob Reiner. Reiner was no fan of the president but he was a staunch defender of Democracy. Trump doubled down on his post this afternoon so I’m sure Ana will have more to say tomorrow.

Propping Trump up in front of some uniformed troops and like Jenny McCarthy for some reason to sign the Prosperity And Excellence Act, which mandates that vehicular homicide is legal and retroactively awards him an Emmy and a Stanley Cup. He starts talking about how Bette Midler "really went down."

We definitely need to see the crimes that TrumpIsAFelon committed and was not prosecuted for. It will definitely tell us how badly our national security has been voluntarily breached.

piece by @benjaminweiss.bsky.social for @courthousenews.bsky.social is very good and I will add: Loose Cannon's stated justification for concealing the report was "oh jeez, we can't taint cases against Nauta and De Oliveira!"

which were (corruptly) dismissed by Bondi's DOJ* 10 months ago, so... ??

squint long enough and you might reasonably deduce Pamela Jo Bondi and Aileen Cannon (remember her?!?) are conspiring to suppress Jack Smith's report 👀

How we gonna use a WMD in a hospital?
State Dept. source speculated to me in March that the purpose of making fentanyl a WMD "is a combination of designating fentanyl cartels as terrorist organizations and creating justification for conducting military operations in Mexico and Canada" and "deporting drug users who are not citizens."
Trump to declare 'illicit' fentanyl 'Weapon of Mass Destruction,' per draft EO
A copy of the draft was obtained and reviewed by The Handbasket.

It's not a conspiracy theory to say that Douthat's primary role in our political culture today is to tell fairy tales to rich centrist NYT readers about how the far right extremists who have taken over the brands of the GOP and "conservatism" are totally fine and are nothing to be concerned about.

It's notable to me that one of the main guys the NYTimes pays to be on the "conservatism" beat has long seemed to have almost no understanding of the movement he's paid to analyze.

Kolvet leads a McCarthyite organization that encourages students to spy on their professors so as to get them fired. He also loves it when Muslim Americans get harassed and mocked. Almost none of the media he produces would pass muster with NYT fact checkers. Good job Ross. bsky.app/profile/seth...
It’s also notable that TPUSA employs rabid Islamophobes like this person. Imagine what the Trump admin would do to a university if they allowed an organization that said this about Jews and pork to establish themselves on campus.

I suspect Kolvet walked out of that interview and gave himself a massive high five about how he'd snowed Douthat into allowing him to garner a ton more normie "conservative" subscribers and donors for TPUSA under the completely false pretenses that TPUSA is just like your grandpa's conservatism.

If Ross Douthat wants to interview this TPUSA propagandist then fine...but at least he could just DO HIS FUCKING JOB as a journalist and actually ask the guy meaningful questions that would not allow him to present himself to NYT readers as something ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT HE ACTUALLY IS.

Douthat also totally pushed Kolvet on the fact that the frequent co-host of Charlie Kirk's show that Kolvet produced was white nationalist and proud McCarthyite, Pizzagate Jack, a serial promoter of bullshit conspiracy theories and antisemitic tropes. Right? bsky.app/profile/seth...
That would be this, antisemitic and white nationalist activist, who was a cohost of The Charlie Kirk show.

And when Kolvet tells Ross this fairy tale about how the 18th century founders of the US were inspired by Kolvet's brand of 21st century non-denominational evangelical Protestantism that none of them believed in...and that Kolvet's God is Providentially steering the country, Ross pushes back, right?

The dude has a long track record of circulating complete bullshit lies that ruin other Americans lives, and then he comes on Ross's NYT show and is like "it's important to be fact-based" and so of course Ross was ready with a follow up about all of this guy's lies...right? RIGHT?

Of course not.

Last month Kolvet either just made up or fell for a made up story about Arizona math teachers supposedly wearing t-shirts to mock Charlie Kirk's death. It 100% did not happen, but he ran with it, and those teachers got barraged with MAGA death threats. bsky.app/profile/jare...
Absolutely disgusting response from Turning Point USA's spokesperson here, who targeted some random teachers and rained hell on their lives because he couldn't fathom not trying to squeeze some more engagement bait out of his dead boss.

When I saw that conspiracies were on the topic list my curiosity was piqued. It turns out that this guy whose entire worldview is built around a wacko conspiracy theory about "the left" and its domination of US culture isn't a big believer in conspiracies now that his org is the subject of one.

Apologies for yet another thread with a hate read of a Douthat joint, but we need to talk about the role the credulous "center-right" is playing in normalizing fascistic illiberalism in the US. Kolvet is a rabid Islamophobe and anti-trans hatemonger, but you'd never know that from this interview.

Imagine calling someone else "deranged" while speaking of yourself in the third person, like you're Gollum talking about Sméagol, as you make a man and his wife's murder at the hands of their severely ill son all about yourself.
Q: A number of Republicans have denounced your statement on Rob Reiner. Do you stand by it?

TRUMP: Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.

For better or worse, public figures are judged when they die — their character, contributions, beliefs. It's undeniable that millions have mourned Rob Reiner's tragic death, celebrating his talent and contributions. I suspect when a certain public figure kicks the bucket, sentiments wont be the same
