Walz statement on that call, per Bulwark

I don’t know how else to say this
January 23, 2026 at 5:13 PM
And that’s what happened. Hunt returned, tying the vote. A tie vote fails, so Republicans defeat the Venezuela war powers resolution. Bacon and Massie were the only dissenters
January 22, 2026 at 10:41 PM
Let me explain the math since it isn’t obvious to people who don’t work here.

The total number of R votes on the DHS bill was 214. The total number of Rs on the war powers res when it goes down will be 217. They had more members coming, even if all Dems voted against the DHS bill it would’ve passed
January 22, 2026 at 10:33 PM
The war powers resolution to block further military action in Venezuela by Trump is currently winning by 1, with all Dems + Massie and Bacon supporting, but the Rs have flown Wesley Hunt back to DC and are holding the vote open as he makes his way to the Hill from Dulles airport
January 22, 2026 at 10:20 PM
The House just successfully attached language repealing this provision to the funding bill (the appropriations minibus). Vote was unanimous, and all House Dems are in attendance today

Seeing a lot of stuff about the 25th Amendment, just noting Section 4 can only be “invoked” by one person, and that person is the Vice President.

"Some ICE officials call Sheahan 'Fish Cop' behind her back because of her previous stint running the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries. Sheahan knows there are people who think that, without any law-enforcement background, she isn’t qualified"

Made this to celebrate a top tier nickname:

*Definitely not his last- after that vote failed, Republican leadership quickly pulled two other anti-labor bills from the floor because they didn't have the votes.

A nice surprise win for Jeffries and Clark, and if R's keep using their newfound ability to thwart each other we'll see more of these
January 13, 2026 at 11:08 PM
Some House floor drama as Republicans are currently losing a vote on a bill to let employers to exclude workforce education and development training from minimum wage and overtime calculations. Labor-friendly R's (there are a few, sometimes) voting no, Johnson huddling with them for ~30 mins now
January 13, 2026 at 10:42 PM
People ask "does this mean Dems can take over" using procedure or whatnot- the answer is no.

But of those 27 Republicans not voting, one announced his retirement today (Neal Dunn, R-FL), and another (Greg Murphy, R-NC) announced he's recovering from surgery.

Attendance making the House very close
January 13, 2026 at 6:11 PM
Noteworthy: 199 Democrats voting to just 191 Republicans in the first House votes of the week last night.

First vote series of the week is normally evening votes on less controversial bills; combined with travel that always produces lower attendance. But that's a big disparity. A couple notes-

PASSED: 17 Republicans just joined all House Democrats to extend Affordable Care Act health care tax credits for three years
January 8, 2026 at 10:15 PM
The first House vote of 2026, the quorum call, has a tight party split. Perhaps a harbinger of things to come

Wow.

Just remembered the James OKeefe sting video with a DOJ official from early September: “They’ll redact every Republican or conservative person in those files [and] leave all the liberal, Democratic people”
December 20, 2025 at 2:21 AM
“The Justice Department redacted the names and identifiers of victims. Fox News Digital has learned that the same redaction standards were applied to politically exposed individuals and government officials.”

Here's the final vote on the silly stupid Republican "health care" bill that doesn't lower health care prices. Massie is the nay
December 17, 2025 at 11:35 PM
And a second time, even closer, with more Republican switching - this one was a vote @repmcgovern.bsky.social forced on a war powers resolution to block war with Venezuela. An absence and a flip would have swung this, speaks to how tight things are in the House right now:
December 17, 2025 at 11:11 PM
While all eyes were on health care, Dems very nearly pulled off another big surprise on the House floor. A war powers resolution vote forced by @meeks.house.gov to block Trump and Hegseth's boat strikes in the Caribbean nearly passed; 7 Republicans flipped their votes from yes to no late in the vote
