Tax wealth. Distribute UBI. That's the better way to transfer billionaire money back to society. And don't worry, billionaires, it will work its way back up to you again, where we will tax it again.

It's kind of like the water cycle, but one that doesn't happen on its own and requires intervention.

When a government has systematically eroded the conditions for good mental health & not put those back it’s harmful to take away the support people will desperately need to heal and recover from that.

It will make the problem worse & drive up NHS and other public sector spending.
Exclusive: Government admits cutting mental health spend share
The proportion of the NHS budget spent on mental health services is being cut for the first time in several years, the government will admit to Parliament, HSJ has learned.

We do not have a mental health crisis. We just have natural reactions to an economic system that is incompatible with human health and thriving.

Under capitalism when “efficiency” is used in political discourse, it just means to more efficiently transfer money from taxpayers to the the rich, therefore social programs that help poor & working people, like Medicare, SS & even public education, are therefore “inefficient.”

Careers shackle us to this system for life. We tell ourselves we’re working for our family, for our future, yet many - if not most - careers exist primarily to perpetuate a system on track to rip all of our families & all of our futures apart.

We should ask, honestly, are our careers worth it?

Study after study does indeed show significant drops in intimate partner violence (as high as 50%) as a result of unconditional basic income. Much less child abuse too.
Any government that is serious about preventing domestic violence would be behind universal basic income and rent control. Too many people can't leave unsafe situations because they can't afford to.

Our world is burning in real time as oligarch-owned fascists scream “Drill, Baby, Drill” & corporate-owned neoliberals chant “Growth, growth, growth!”

We’ve allowed our politics, media & lives to be captured by psychopaths who are knowingly killing everything, including us.

Humiliation, shame, isolation, fear, feeling trapped and powerless are all linked to mental ill health.

These are sadly at the core of the majority of our approaches: education, benefits system, policing, mental health services and so on.

For a healthy society we must take a relational approach.

Anyway, all the commentators, presenters, hacks & politicians who bigged up austerity, Brexit, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Donald Trump etc will be back at work tomorrow, making massive new mistakes without a thought for the damage they do or the misery they facilitate.

Someone should write a book…

One of the unacknowledged advantages of this awful era is that it's revealing for all to see the putrid connections between great wealth and great power.

The intentions of the oligarchs are fully exposed and more blatant than ever.

But remember: We outnumber the oligarchs.

How you go about starving it becomes the real issue. #integral
