I'm not sure Vancouver is the poster child for family friendly cities that you think it is. Almost all of my friends who wanted kids were forced to move out for the city in order to afford it.

I mean, the Canada Health Transfer funds from the feds to the provinces don't even necessarily have to be spent on healthcare! It's an absurd, inefficient system that also makes a mockery of the concept of democratic accountability.

I'll just say that it's absurd to have a system where nearly a quarter of healthcare spending is funded by the federal government, especially while that same government has almost no say in how that money is spent.
