I feel like people are downplaying the scale of the possible US theft of Greenland. I know Greenland isn't Mercator-projection big, but it's still massive: it would increase the total territory of the United States (including Alaska) by nearly a quarter (23.7%)!

Indeed, but ICE is not an occupying force; ICE is a terrorizing force. They don't have the numbers to be an occupying force. At a certain point the sheer numbers of people in the streets will simply overwhelm ICE's ability to inflict fear. The moment of shock is transient.
