I try to stay out of US politics these days, but I do believe Trump's revanchist racial policies animate him and his supporters more than anything else. They want their purified (and poorer) white ethnostate.
The unifying aim of all Trump pronouncements and actions is to trash the constitution and impose a white supremacist militarized autocracy by EO and truth social decree - the latest attack on naturalization and birthright citizenship is an ugly new escalation of that barbaric aim.

The association may be explained by shared biological pathways, such as chronic inflammation and neuroinflammation.

People who don't like taxes are selfish and stupid and make our entire society worse for their own short term, often barely noticeable gain.

Meanwhile in Canada we are yammering about a bitumen pipeline
Most people hear “heat pump” and think of small air-source units at home. But Germany is building one of the world’s largest heat pumps in Mannheim: a 162 MW river-source system using heat from the Rhine.

Big reminder that heat-pumps scale far beyond households — they can decarbonise whole cities.

This is an excellent primer on the importance of cleaning indoor air as well as how it can be done.
Today on Volts: for years, I've wanted to do a podcast on indoor air quality, and I finally found the perfect guest! Dr. Lagoudas & I discuss indoor air pollutants, the policies and technologies that can control them, and the growing need to frame indoor air quality as a basic human right.
What's the deal with indoor air quality?
From CO2 monitors to better building codes, Dr. Georgia Lagoudas outlines how to clean up the spaces where we spend 90% of our lives.

The solution isn't a for-profit system, but like Thompson says there's no use pretending that BC's healthcare system is working or ok.
Just did a rough calculation of how much I've paid directly into the health system since I arrived in BC. In that time, I've never had a family doctor, and the one time I tried to use the ER I was turned away. I've been paying tens of thousands of dollars for a service that doesn't exist.
