Pure fanaticism, just objectively bad policy especially while building all these new data centers. But also an opportunity for Democrats to say loudly, over and over again, that Trump and Republicans are making everything more expensive. Higher electricity costs impact everything.

Ah, the ole "just because its overly hyped up doesn't mean its not going to be a generationally transformative technology as big as the Internet", argument.
The dotcom era was 25 years ago. iPhone launch was 18. This means there are now adults whose only “big tech hype cycle” memory is crypto/NFTs.
This is why many draw a connection between AI and crypto as scam bubbles. They missed the hype cycles that were also real, disruptive, and world-changing
