I like making games. Maybe one could expand someone's worldview. Mend a wound. Slip an idea past the armor of someone before they become a worse person.

Hair was deemed so important by mammal biology that, if you have an injury deeper than the outer layer of your skin (thorn, splinter, burn, etc), your body burns energy to kick hair (and nail) production near it into overdrive.
I've done some experiments on myself to test it even.

I tend to think it's a survival thing. Hominids evolved toward hairlessness to survive the tropics, then had to quickly adapt to a global Ice Age when what hair we had left was precious.
The pain is old biology, arguing not to damage our hair.
