I spent the morning after this looking up sleep paralysis demons. Many cultures tend to describe these visitor as "old hags" but I was like, eh, she was about my age. Not more than 40, I wager? Wait, am I an old hag??

Yeah bossmang, I have been struggling with motivation. Everyone I know is unemployed or near enough to it, unsheltered or starving or addicted just to cope, on and off what they're prescribed and can't get because fuck healthcare, sick and sick and sicker with or without insurance. Dawg it kills me.

lately i'm thinking about how in the sumerian version of the epic of gilgamesh, enkidu is "civilized" by a priestess of inanna who teaches him hygiene, cuisine, and good sex. in the akkadian version, 2k years later, the priestess is merely "a harlot", which is what makes it into the english version
