For too long, vape & e-cigarette manufacturers have used deceptive marketing to maximize profits at the expense of people’s health. Today’s announcement on our first-of-its-kind legislation will make it possible for us to take legal action against bad-faith actors to recover public health costs.

👷‍♂️🏗👷‍♀️ Prompt pay legislation has landed in BC! Prompt pay legislation helps ensure that the work done to build a project is respected. At its foundation, this is about fairness for the construction industry — an industry that has built our province & powered our economy.

This new legislation will support families across the province, and provide consistency for kids who will receive education and child care in the same space.

Most parents don’t work 9-3 and may end up scrambling to pick up their kids after school.

We’ve introduced legislation that, if passed, would allow school districts to offer seamless child care before and after school, on school grounds.

Today, we remember the children who never returned home from residential school. We stand with the survivors of these depraved institutions and the survivors of the intergenerational trauma that started within their walls.

I’m honoured to have co-chaired the annual Maa-nulth – BC G2G Agreement Leadership Forum with Chief Councillor John Jack of Huu-ay-aht First Nations. In its 7th year of implementation, we signed an Amended G2G Agreement that supports the relationship as governments and treaty partners. (1/3)

As rents and new home prices come down across B.C. we are working on reducing costs so we can continue to see new housing supply.

Last week we announced deferral of Development Cost Charges for new homes.

This week B.C. Hydro stepping up to lower costs and expedite new connections.🙌🏾
adriandix.bsky.social
We've lowered the cost and sped up the timeline for new homes and businesses connecting to BC Hydro. 🔌

A simple connection to a new single-family home has dropped by more than 90% - from over $800 to now be as low as $64. 🏡

Hopeful parents can now apply for up to $19,000 to help cover the cost of a single IVF cycle, so more families have the chance at parenthood.

Funding will be income tested, so the people who need the most help will get it.

Hate has absolutely no place in B.C.

Our government is taking action through expanded funding for our B.C. RCMP Hate Crimes Unit.

This investment ensures enhanced investigations, stronger support for victims, and reaffirms our commitment to building a safer and more inclusive province for all.

Hate has no place in #BC. That’s why we're investing in the B.C. Hate Crimes Unit – led by the BC RCMP – to protect communities, respond to incidents more effectively and ensure those who spread hate are held accountable.

We’ve heard from homebuilders across B.C. - they want to build homes, but rising costs are a challenge. Today, we’re making it easier to get homes built by development costs to occupancy with a 25% deposit up front.

Lowering the costs of building much needed homes across BC🙌🏾

Great to see SITE funding in action by Abbotsford Police. In just 5 hours, they arrested 5 repeat offenders during a targeted crackdown. We will continue to make historic investments in policing, so BC remains strong and resilient.

Many people don’t report extortion because they fear retaliation or don’t recognize it as a crime. That’s why we’ve partnered with @bccrimestoppers.bsky.social to launch an awareness campaign that informs and empowers you to report it safely.

Today, we celebrate the rich histories, traditions and cultures of Indigenous Peoples.

Today is also a call to action to learn from the past and stand up against anti-Indigenous racism, including residential school denialism.

BC families can access the Early Resolution Process to help resolve family law matters quicker and outside of court.

This can save you time and money while finding a resolution that is specific to your family’s needs.

Everyone deserves to live without threats to their safety.

I’m asking Prime Minister Carney to list the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist group in Canada, which will give police additional tools they need to stop and prevent the extortion of Canadians.

Canadian provinces, including Ontario, Alberta and BC have experienced an increase in extortion crimes in recent years. I’m asking Prime Minister Mark Carney and his government to take action to designate groups engaged in extortion and related crimes as terrorist entities under the Criminal Code.

Muslim communities will be gathering today to celebrate Eid al-Adha.

Being the time of Hajj, this day is a reminder of the importance of sharing, gratitude and caring for others – values we all share as British Columbians.

Eid Mubarak!
