Mark was mentioned but only in passing. A pity. That long 8.30 interview with Lamps, Doug King and various Coventry folk was very well done. Very unexpected. #r4today

Badenoch says people are "getting to know her" #r4today
Truly they are. They find her repulsive. The Tory party is polling 16%.
garyfoskett.bsky.social
Badenoch on BBC #r4today sounds like someone who's down in a hole and determined to dig even lower. She speaks only to the 16% who still support the Tory party plus those who have defected to Farage and Reform. She knows she's on the last lap of her leadership and well on the way out.

Jenrick says "communities must integrate"? #r4today
He's upset about multicultural and multiethnic areas where people have never and will never vote Tory. For some strange reason those communities hate far right Tories, racists and xenophobes.
Badenoch fully supports Jenrick.
garyfoskett.bsky.social
Jenrick is now in his element. Without power or real responsibility he can spout the far right rubbish that festers within him. No need for restraint or subtlety since he and his party are speaking only to the numpties who still pay attention to Badenoch's busted Tories. 16% in the polls. #r4today

Your reminder that Robert Jenrick isn’t interested in judges being unbiased or apolitical: on the contrary, like the far right media, he wants to intimidate or control judges into making decisions which reflect *his* political biases
colinmurray.bsky.social
More in the breathless, breaking stop-the-presses, and not at all confected story, that judges, before they were judges, were involved in practising law. Take 5 seconds to appreciate just how hard into "swivel-eyed loon" Robert Jenrick is being allowed to lean:

The far right, & I include today's Tories in that group, look at what Trump has done in the US with envy, but also see it as a blueprint.

They tried to copy his assault on cultural institutions, & they will attack the independence of the justice system if they ever have power again.

Honest Bob Jenrick promises political selection of judges, and replacement of the sentencing council with ministerial decisions (which could be extremely complicated or cruelly, counter-productively simple).

Their party is close to extinction. It's certainly irrelevant. Why would anyone turn up for this conference whilst Badenoch & Jenrick are its leading lights?
Bleak reality of opposition sets in for Conservatives
The Conservative Party, so often and for so long the dominating force in British politics, is a shrivelled version of its usual self.
