Just rejoined Instagram after deleting my last account and being away for much of this year, and as much as everyone claims to hate AI videos, I rather watch my Sora timeline than whatever Instagram is feeding my brand new account.
Some of these are AI, but a lot of it is just human-made garbage.

But yeah, there’s a segment of the community here who are pretty bad. You pretty much have to actively block them, which of course is not a good way to use social media.
But, yeah, you pretty much have to block the majority of the “Bluesky Elder” population.

Deleted a post that was going viral and bringing an undesirable amount of attention from anonymous accounts. But, I'm going to be honest, the toxic folks here have won. So much of the usage of the site is about avoiding their attention. I'll just use this site to get book recs going forward

I dunno. You don’t “become” anything. You one day connect the dots and realize who you’ve been since day one.
That’s not something you can control in others, or take away, no matter how hard you try.

I'm with Atticus here. I find LLMs to be an extremely powerful learning tool. But I don't think the "you can ask followup questions" framing really does justice to what's going on. At least not for me. It makes it sound like it's just being able to click links in a wiki article...
I continue to think LLMs are absurdly powerful for learning, and I'm using them more often for it.
The problem is that a lot of people don't have solid metacognitive skills around epistemics and autodidactism.
You've got to have a handle on what you know, how you learn, and if you're learning.

Just, don't let others tell you what is the right or wrong way to create. Use all tools at your disposal, pick the ones that fit your needs best.

People used to draw inspiration from random name generators not that long ago. I’m also not so sure anymore that GenAI can’t come up with new ideas.
With that said, yes to the second paragraph. I would however take advantage of both: UBI and GenAI.

You can use AI to create art while continuing to strengthen your own skills in whatever medium you prefer to express yourself with.
Both things are not mutually exclusive.
Creatively, what most likely will end up happening is that you will use AI as a collaborative partner.

I think the Tamagotchi Uni is one of the better modern Tamagotchi versions, but this new Tamagotchi Paradise is really cool.
The only thing is that the designs don’t feel very Tamagotchi-ish to me, but that’s okay.
