Watching Twin Peaks for the first time (I know) and it feels bizarre to like retroactively discover every cultural reference and touchpoint that went over my head in other media I enjoy. Like I've discovered the Gen X cultural Rosetta stone or something

I remember the reply all cascade that was started by me making a mistake in the issue meeting top tens when emailing them round on Friday morning and everyone deciding to point it out, followed by colleagues telling them to stop pointing it out. Everyone went on bcc after that.

Just about recovered from going to Arctangent last weekend for the third year in a row... highlights included Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Frontierer, Melvins, envy, GY!BE, callous daoboys, EYES, delving... truly the best loud music festival on earth

rip keyboard bob. it wasn't a proper deep ellum show until Bob raised the keyboard over his head. it should be noted for non dallasites that Bob never played the keyboard, he was just a man that showed up at concerts with his own keyboard

I think Altman assumes that “PhD-level expert” means someone who speaks confidently on everything as opposed to saying “it’s nuanced,” losing their keys, and getting maniacally fixated on their current topic to the point of seeing it in everything.
