This was my old world. I liked my old world.

From the architect's renders on display at Darlington station its new concourse will be a great place to sit and look at men's bums.

Early morning meeting at @railwaymuseum.bsky.social yesterday meant being able to spy these slumbering workhorses, just as the sun was starting to filter into the Great Hall 👌

Feeling conflicted at the thought of finally needing to use my PlayStation 2 network adapter since it's been sealed in its packaging for the last 25 years. If I hadn't developed a yearning to play SSX this weekend then it might as well have been in there forever.

30 years on and we're back to this.

Boxing Day walk along the Shropshire Union Canal (but not that bit) and across Telford's 70ft tall aqueduct over the River Ceiriog at Chirk. The parallel viaduct came with the railways almost 50 years later. Lovely day to feel less guilty about everything I managed to shovel away yesterday.

Peak desire path on my walk yesterday. 10/10 no notes. I stuck to the pavement though.

My grandfather served on HMS Exeter during the Battle of the River Plate. He didn't ever talk about it, but after his death in 1993 my gran would share bits of stories of the injuries he sustained during the battle. These photos are his, but I've no idea what they're of or when they were taken.

There, I've finally done it, and now I can probably stop carrying my passport with me whenever I go anywhere that doesn't have a York postcode.

Classic cars in front of classic aircraft is a theme I can get onboard with but once you find a BMW M1 Procar in front of Concorde it's probably not worth looking any further.

Yeah we've got Stranger Things this week but Disney have snuck out the remaster of the 1995 Beatles Anthology documentary too and finally it's got pacing that makes it watchable. Superb.

When your production team didn't request packaged artwork and instead accepted Adobe Illustrator's default substitute font 😬

All I can think of are the plastic Barrel of Monkeys monkeys that pop up in Toy Story. Looking for a picture I'd forgotten how antagonistic they are. Feels about right.

Ah man, Trevor van Meter's wonderful FlyGuy lives on, and is as beautifully benign as it always was. Enjoy some vintage Flash gaming from 2002, courtesy of @waybackmachine.bsky.social archive.org/details/flyg...

I have a little pegboard in the alcove around my desk at home, and the postcard version brings a bit of much needed colour. I love it :)

It feels self indulgent to compare the loss, but I can't put into words just how much I miss both of the people in this photo.

A cold and wet afternoon means only one thing: time to make a pot of tea, notch up the heating and - even though Ustinov arguably wasn't the best Poirot - give his best outing another watch.

I still have my iPod, tho struggling to believe that it's getting on for 24 years old now. I keep meaning to go back to using it, but that project took a backseat to restoring my PS2 - which made way for sorting the spare bedroom, so I look forward to maybe having it fixed up in time for its 30th 😅
