From the architect's renders on display at Darlington station its new concourse will be a great place to sit and look at men's bums.

Early morning meeting at @railwaymuseum.bsky.social yesterday meant being able to spy these slumbering workhorses, just as the sun was starting to filter into the Great Hall 👌

✂️ Yesterday I finally responded to @agakowalska.bsky.social’s challenge to make a collage from a single piece of packaging. I present to you a green (tea) woodpecker, made from a big Yorkshire Tea box. It was fun and I’ll be rooting through our recycling bin for more materials later on ♻️

Feeling conflicted at the thought of finally needing to use my PlayStation 2 network adapter since it's been sealed in its packaging for the last 25 years. If I hadn't developed a yearning to play SSX this weekend then it might as well have been in there forever.

I feel as if at some point we're going to need a deep dive into those portraits because they're beyond even AI-generated levels of awful. Like, I actually thought there were players in this that I hadn't seen because they look so unlike who they're meant to be. #TheTraitors #TraitorsUK

I wonder if supermarkets have talent scouts at self-checkouts just in case, you know, someone is *really* good at it?

Boxing Day walk along the Shropshire Union Canal (but not that bit) and across Telford's 70ft tall aqueduct over the River Ceiriog at Chirk. The parallel viaduct came with the railways almost 50 years later. Lovely day to feel less guilty about everything I managed to shovel away yesterday.

Radio 2 playing Freiheit for Christmas, which is both wonderful and also quite possibly the best Paul McCartney song he neither wrote nor performed.

Staying with mum for Christmas and 72 hours in I wish I'd started a thread of all of the things she gets irrationally angry about. This morning is, surprisingly, the 2021 census as it's clearly got the population of her local village wrong. I'll be drinking heavily from lunchtime. Merry Christmas x

Peak desire path on my walk yesterday. 10/10 no notes. I stuck to the pavement though.

Getting up early and being in town for 9.30 to get my shopping done was the right thing to do as I'm now back home drinking tea in my pyjamas before midday so I win x

Never mind the shower scene in Psycho, when Norman appears through the door in this shot properly spooks me every time.

There, I've finally done it, and now I can probably stop carrying my passport with me whenever I go anywhere that doesn't have a York postcode.

Classic cars in front of classic aircraft is a theme I can get onboard with but once you find a BMW M1 Procar in front of Concorde it's probably not worth looking any further.

I have such an irrational dislike of those 'your year, unwrapped' things (just as I have an irrational dislike of pretty much everything tbh), to the point that I'm now convinced that when I die and my life flashes before my eyes it'll be in that format.

You'll never stare at your laptop more intently than you do when you're on a train sat at a table with three strangers.

Going in for another re-watch of Michael Winterbottom's wonderful The Trip ahead of its fifth outing (whenever that may be). I've got a list of new shows to watch but neglect for the few I keep returning to and allow to envelop me like a comfort blanket. Ridiculous, contrived melancholia. Superb.
