Writer of wrongs, villain of my own story, and generally awful human being (due to lack of practice). A jumble of anxiety, too many thoughts, toxic neediness, and contagious awkwardness.
My writing is 100% natural stupidity
Finished 1st draft of the novella, The Haunting Door.

But it’s a novella, sequel to an unpublished novella, so hardly a milestone to celebrate. More a relief that it’s out of my head so I can move on.

This is literally what I've been writing and podcasting about for years. I was planning to do an essay on this, but here's a 🧵.

The main reason is psychology. Due to personal, family, and cultural histories, some people are inherently scared of the world.
Fight and help win a world war.

Establish a global order that cements your national power for 80 years.

Blow it all up.

What am I missing?

‘You want me to confront a murderer in a room full of potential hostage?’ The Detective regarded each in turn. ‘Why would anyone think that’s a good idea?’

I've only used ChatGPT once. I had it write the suicide note of an AI that got fed up with humans.
Wasn't impressed with the results.

Hellbound is good, and more memorable than a lot of series. Not perfect, and unless a third season offers an explanation, the fantasy element doesn’t necessarily stand up to examination, but it’s the social impact of the fantasy element where it excels, along with its interesting story choices.

‘I kill no one. Some people want other people dead. Serial killers want to kill people. Put them together, I may even be saving lives, rather than doubling the killing. And there are yet more people who want to watch all this killing. I make money from all sides. I’m an entrepreneur.’

Your public libraries offer a startling array of learning methods. I can see why your rulers are so eager to murder them and desecrate their carcasses.

Anxiety is an imaginary enemy, squatting in your head, picking apart your dreams to show that they were always nightmares, so why bother working to achieve them?

I've plenty of my own mistakes to own, without taking those of others. That's part of the identity I wear. It protects me from the doubts that can paralyse. And guilt's the doubt of things you can't change. Take responsibility for everything in this life and it'll drown you.

'Incomplete?' Have I just been insulted? Usually it's more clear.

Finally got to see season 2 of Wednesday, and it’s as near perfect as the first. I love the dialogue and the cello pieces.

‘You've seen the array of residents on the streets, yet have trouble believing in a clockwork automaton wandering about down here, sneaking up on unsuspecting miscreants and knocking them out while some handsome knowhound chatters incessantly to distract- And there you go.'

<redacted> realised he faced a true psychopath. Completely divorced from reality. He’d need all the luck he drained from Chef Damien’s head to get out of this.

'You bring me into your heart of power. Do you imagine me harmless? Unable to raise a hand against you, both due to the oath that binds us, and the little soldiers at your beck. Do you truly imagine I need such a crass approach as violence? I know. That's my weapon.'

With the economy tanking, all these idiots think that anyone can kill, so they go around undercutting actual professionals. A lot of potential employers are also hard up, so they take them. It’s in danger of turning the profession into a hobby.

A few years ago opinions on Gen AI art were less clear, and some reputable cover creators started openly using AI art (one offered a long explanation of why they thought it was acceptable).
So I used it redo my homemade covers, since there was no way I could afford to buy enough covers.

Freedom is a lie of perception. A refusal to see the thought channels that shape us. That guide our decisions. We're all prisoners of our self, trapped in a cage of personality.

Which story, I’m not sure.
Perhaps it’s the one in my head. The one we can never escape, about who we want to be. Not one we always listen to. But stories are how we interpret the world. Narratives with which we make sense of chaos.
