Complex language is generally a bad thing. The simpler the language, the more people can understand and build on the work being reported. Complex language can mask a poor grasp of the work.

I stuck with writing and editing, sent to a webmaster instead of a compositor, but wonder if I should have learned web production or coding at the time instead. Having said which, Naomi’s article is very wise.

Same! I got home once to find a word stuck to the sole of my shoe. My blood ran cold. I too enjoyed the physicality of paper galleys and subbing markup with the finest pens we could find. Rapid change and not knowing which new skills to focus on can be stressful even if things work out in the end

High or low fidelity execution has always been a concern for copywriters. If you show your customer a high fidelity (polished) draft, some panic you’ve spent the whole budget already. If you show them low fidelity, some can’t engage cos it’s not pretty enough.
