In near future America, technology has progressed to the point that even your dreams are under surveillance. Dream about the wrong thing one time too many, and you might find yourself being detained by the RAA (Risk Assessment Administration), because your dream data has alerted them that you are likely to commit a crime soon. Such is the case for Sara.

Well, this is embarrassing. Lieutenant  Commander Data never showed up, and my original plan for this week's WNW isn't going to happen, after all. 😳 Sorry, word nerds... maybe next time. Luckily, there's no such thing as a shortage of words, and I've found others…

Luckily, there's no such thing as a shortage of words, and I've found others that I especially like to use in the meantime.

In the year 2090, America is completely isolated from the rest of the world. A group of nameless, faceless men collectively known as "The Board" preside over the country, and Compliance Officers enforce the law. These officers, along with the massive walls spanning the entirety of the northern and southern borders--protect Americans from the terrorism of other nations, and the toxic wasteland that exists beyond the walls.

This is a greatly expanded version of the review I posted on Goodreads. I was going to share it here as originally written, until I realized I had a lot more to say about it. Shortly after twin sisters Charlie and Maggie Tannehill's eighth birthday, the President issued a terrible announcement: scientists had discovered that humans--like insects and animals--had an expiration date encoded in their DNA.

I miss the days when people understood vaccines are a GOOD thing...
Complications of common vaccine preventable childhood illnesses are not trivial. This is why it's important to #vaccinate kids and non-immune adults.
Since we seem to have forgotten, a brief reminder 🧵

My naive belief that the people I loved most had a great deal of compassion and empathy for others, and didn't have a hateful bone in their bodies.

I know better now.

It breaks my heart every single day, and makes me feel like I never truly knew them at all. 😔

So SICK of being told I'm overreacting to things. "That's not going to happen because <reasons>." As if the norms apply at all right now. 🙄

I *want* them to be right. I do. But I fear they're deluding themselves.

Me? I'm over here getting ready for the dystopia.

Better safe than sorry, right?

There has been a shift in the Trump team's language in their anti-DEI attacks. All of a sudden they started calling it "DEIA", with the A being "accessibility". If you don't think it's a coordinated effort to remove disabled people from every facet of life, well I have news for you.

Not at all surprised.
Fellow NSA - National Security Agency veterans. Look at what’s happened at the National Cryptologic Museum. They covered up with brown paper the photos of Women in American Cryptology. All in response to President Trump’s anti-diversity executive order.

THIS.
To the people I know who voted for him,

You know how I feel about him.

There’s nothing I could say about him that you don’t already know.

But as this next chapter of our nation begins, I just want you to know:

I am going to hold you responsible.
