I think most people have a "will to dignity". They don’t want to see themselves as victims, but as people with agency, no matter how rough things get. The woke left strips that away by patronizing them and that’s exactly why the working class can’t stand them.

Look I think Chibber's basically right that class materialism explains working class behavior way better than the ideology first stuff Zizek does. Most workers aren't confused about their situation. Your average taxi driver or warehouse worker knows exactly what they're dealing with.

If even the Koch bros funded libertarian think tank says mass immigration weakens unions & helps exploit workers, socialists should face reality. Drop the open borders utopia and argue for humane, anti racist, controlled immigration & not let the far right own the issue.

If socialism ever happens, it’s going to happen in western liberal democracies first, where productive forces already exist and liberal institutions can at least partially contain elite domination. The whole third world socialism fantasy is basically over.

Die Linke and its supporters shouldn’t focus their energy on trying to convert voters from the Greens, SPD, CDU/CSU, or FDP. Those voters are largely spoken for & that effort isn’t likely to go very far. The more important task is engaging with AfD voters and people who don’t vote at all.

DSA, for all its flaws, is at least aware of its problem. It knows it’s disconnected from the working class & is actually tryna fix that. Die Linke meanwhile seems convinced it’s already doing everything perfectly & that the only issue is messaging.

A lot of dehistoricized leftists will claim Israel is a western imperial state. But people forget that the soviet union was actually Israel’s first major benefactor. Only later did it turn to France and then the US. The Americans were pretty skeptical of the new state.
