i think this is why italians have an instinctive hate of pineapple on pizza. most styles in italy use a sauce from raw tomatoes that already bring a fresh fruity flavour. but it works on a cooked tomato sauce.

tbh italian pasta names are probably more common in uk supermarkets than us. you'll see stuff like "conchiglie" instead of "shells".
