Old video games bloke from Newcastle. Definitely Left-leaning and hence increasingly annoyed in these troubled times.

Ooh dear, Commodore (Ab)User! The review of C64 Elite in issue 20 reveals it was "not original" because, haven't you heard of Star Raiders (on the Atari, not the C64)?

Star Raiders' reputation intrigued me for years until I played it and found it incomprehensible. What was I missing, Atari fans?

And here it is. This illustration and the one used for the Skyfox cover of ZZAP! 64 are my favourite cover illustrations from any game mags.

Thanks Bing AI search! Two wrong answers for the price of one!

Three really, because Tulip only appeared in one episode of Porridge, played by the late, great Michael "Oxo Dad" Redfern.

Where does it get its ideas?

There are six pages of me name-dropping about magazines and game development in the latest issue of Retro Gamer. SIX PAGES! Sadly, no gatefold pull-out poster yet, but a man's reach must always exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?

Today I celebrate birthday v.56 and my first official day as a self-employed entity.

And being a serious businessperson, I'm now in the market for a serious office computer to run things.

This is my last week at my current job (the videogames business is on the bones of its arse), and I have nothing new lined up!
Not to worry! LinkedIn's algorithm has got me covered with helpful suggestions for where I should take my career next.

It's arrived already, and with a special pack-in signed postcard!

At last I will be able to forge cheques and lease agreements in the name of @jazrignall.bsky.social!

Lovely unboxing experience, BTW. Well done @bitmapbooks.com.

The Book of Jaz, coming out Feb 10. Buying it because I'm in it and I'm a terrible narcissist.

Look out for my own history of my life and times in video games, "Rignall and I".

Nightbitch is a strange but interesting movie. Most interesting was seeing Jessica Harper as Norma, the librarian. She was so beautiful as Woody Allen's ingenuous violinist, Daisy, in Stardust Memories in 1980, and it's still a treat to see her perform, aged 75.

McDonald's ordering system is great. So much better than the olden days when you had to speak to a hassled human. Mine is order f0c72, which I think means a large Big Mac Meal in hexadecimal.

Just recovering from the nightmare that is "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice".

I know Tim Burton doesn't give a fig what I think, but, Jesus, Burton, WTF was that, apart from an incoherent set-up for a series of sequels I won't be watching?
