Next episode is about True Flood Risk with Shelly Klose. Flood risk tools miss a crucial detail: where your floor starts. That’s why True Flood Risk puts First Floor Elevation (FFE) first.

I’m down at the Oxford Street car free day and I can already tell this is going to be an exceptionally joyous event. I’ll share some highlights!

Ermygadddd, I’ve been on Oxford Street with my daughter today as it’s been traffic free.

What a total buzz 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

All we could hear was people chatting and laughing, and not ONE engine. It was delicious. And of course people are here in huge numbers. … 1/11

Possible causes of your problems. It’s a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.
Diagram titled 'Possible causes of your problems'. On the left hand side, subtitled 'Yes': Funding removed from local councils, growing gap between rich and poor, multinational companies not paying their taxes, lack of new affordable housing, government not investing sufficiently in schools and healthcare. On the right hand side, subtitled 'No': Picture of small boat, with arrow; 'People fleeing horrific situations that you and I can't imagine'.

Starting November 1st, New Mexico will become the first state to offer free universal childcare to all its residents.

It's expected to save families over $12,000 per child annually.

This is a huge step forward — and a reminder that we have the power to fix the system.

If you have performed any applied risk analysis related to open data then here's your chance to present about it for 7 minutes during NY Climate Week! See link.

“We have bears, coyotes and snakes around here, but by far the biggest safety concern for me with my kids is cars.”
washingtonpost.com
The number of children injured or killed by cars while walking or riding a bike has fallen steadily since the 1970s, but CDC researcher note that this decline is not because streets are safer, but because fewer kids are out and about in the first place.
Kids need freedom. Dangerous roads make it hard to grant it.
Bigger cars, distracted drivers and worried parents mean fewer kids are roaming freely.

I take mine very seriously. Don’t be salty. That’s old social media. This is Bluesky. We’re nice to each other here. We’d be paying $250 a month car insurance if we had car instead. That’s a new one of these every 2 months. We have so much fun on it. Everyone smiles at us. It’s a boost daily.

An LBS took care of the cassette on warranty. Front brake adjustment I handled myself. Back brake I tried but beyond me to fix. Waiting on new back wheel end of month then LBS can fix brake simultaneously.

Left thumb painful from power mode adjustments and throttle.

I knew wouldn’t be perfect.

Rear brake rubs on metal. Rain apparently stopped it releasing off the disc.

Love mine. 777mi today. Owned since March. Honestly quality ain’t great. Rear cassette bearing messed up. Replaced. Cranks are loose. Require tightening. Rear wheel spoke broke. Front headlight droops, will tighten it. Drivetrain creaks.
