In 2024 I bicycled 4200 kilometers. And the total on my current bike at the end of 2024 was 14489 kms. I'll just pin this here so it's easy for me to follow on this year's numbers.

I'm only 99% vegan. Veeeery occasionally I do an oops. But it's so rare because we have so many wonderful vegan options available. Like whether I'm in the mood for Near-East, Chinese, Indian, European, there will always be good vegan recipes available. Yummy vegan does exist. And was always there.

yeah, i actually do eat a lot more vegan food nowadays because i have seen a bunch of recipes for vegan food online that look delicious

this is, IMO, a much more effective sales tactic for veganism

Channels posting yummy vegan recipes, on the other hand, have quite dramatically altered my diet (even though it's been vegetarian and mostly plant-based for decades).

And the 5th CD is the most famous woman composer after HvB: Barbara Strozzi. And yeah, I get it. She is wonderful. This is wonderful music and very well sung by Renata Dubinskaite. I like that there are some virtuoso recorder bits in the accompaniment. Lively, lovely, engaging music. <3

Joku n. 12v mini-ihminen tuli ostoksille ja oli ihan innoissaan, kun löysi lempikirjailijalta uuden kirjan, mitä ei ollut lukenut. Hintaa oli 12€ mut mä annoin pari egee nuoren lukijan alennusta. Oon kyl huono kapitalistisika kun aina annan alee kun vauvat käy ostoksilla. Vai onks tää fiksu käytäntö

I just noticed that nahr "river" and baḥr "sea" have different h-sounds in Arabic. Finnish and English don't differentiate between those so I struggle to hear and pronounce the difference. But are the words still rhymes to Arabic ears? Or near enough rhymes that the phrase works?

same ensemble as in Meda's disc and once again I do hear the occasional less than perfectly produced tone in their voices. It's good but not great singing and here, even more so than with Meda, the music is of such quality that it would deserve great singers and not just good ones.

CD4 is another composing early-ish Baroque nun: Isabella Leonarda. Mostly vocal music but also one lovely sonata for 2 violins. Attractive counterpoint looking back to the Renaissance in some pieces, but then thoroughly baroque'n'roll with lively rhythms and lovely tunes. Fun, fun stuff but it's the

CD3 is 9 of Bianca Maria Meda's 12 motets. The Donne Barocche disc has one other motet not recorded and that was the only Meda piece I knew before. Very pretty early-ish baroque with really quite virtuoso vocal lines - so I'd wish for a great rather than good singers as we have here. I mean these...

CD2 Francesca Caccini probably suffers from some similar issues. She wrote the first opera by a woman. But afaik no instrumental music. So why are there a couple instrumental tracks here - one of which sounds very familiar but I can't place it (track 5). Lovely music and performances though.

Transporting ancient brie and camembert by public transportation is really the only problem with my cheese taste: it's so stinky my fellow passengers probably think I've pooped myself so I only buy it when I'm on my bike. :D

What's perverse is that I understand and accept all the reasons for going fully vegan yet I haven't. And that ripe cheese really is stinky but I love it. But my cheese shop always laughs at me because I'm their only customer who likes it that old. :D

I don't know if it's perverse but though I eat 99,9% vegan, I will very, very occasionally enjoy a Fuqi feipian (thin slices of lung and other organs in chili sauce) and the stinkiest, runniest Brie or Camembert - well past it's eat by date. :D

There's one phrase in a Donizetti aria that Giuseppe Anselmi sings in such a way that it's forever burned into my brain in such a way that no one else has been able to do it right. Silly. But it's the very ending starting from the 3:00 mark here.

Glassin musa on kyl tossa ihan mahtavaa. Omistan sen myös DVD:nä mutta mulla ei enää oo DVD-soitinta! Pitäis varmaan hankkia ihan vaan siks, et voisin taas monen vuoden tauon jälkeen katsoakin enkä vain kuunnella tuon.

Vähän sateli kun lähdin musatreeneistä pyöräilemään kotiin. Ajattelin, että ei se varmaan niin kauheeta oo kun on kuoritakki ja en mä sokerista oo. Hyvät ystävät puhelimessa, se olikin ihan hirveetä kun ei se kauaa ollutkaan pikkutihkua vaan tuli saavista koko matkan. Minä ja kaikki tavarani: märkä.
