There’s a great exchange in The Grapes Of Wrath where a farmer who’s been kicked off his land by a bank meets the guy getting paid peanuts to take it over. The guy is mewling like “well somebody was gonna do it if I didn’t!” and Steinbeck has such a beautiful, visceral, disdain for the character

ATTN writers. Is there an agreed upon way in written speech (prose or drama) to indicate that a statement or clause ends in a rising inflection? What I mean is, is there an interrobang equivalent I can use that communicates to the Australian tendency to say everything like it's a question?

Like not to be this guy, but I'm 30 tomorrow & it really sucks how in many ways the world is appreciably worse than it was when I was 20. In particular, it sucks to remember how much hope I had for the trans community in 2014/15 & the vicious turn anti-trans rhetoric has taken since then.

Look I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think that if I Saw The TV Glow was the best film in 2024 to capture how it feels to be trans -which it absolutely was - the second best is absolutely, without a doubt, Michael Gracey's #BetterMan.

It is in no way a Christmas movie but I often get the urge to rewatch Muppet Treasure Island at Christmas.
We taped it to VHS from TV sometime in December so all the ads were Christmassy. I watched that tape so many times it's weird to see the film without ad breaks now.
