as AI gets better I think it’s less likely that people will decide it’s sentient and more likely that people will decide a bunch of other people who aren’t as smart as the AI no longer need to be treated as sentient either

Russia has returned the body of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna.

Her body showed clear signs of torture: broken ribs, bruises, injuries from electric shocks. Some of her internal organs, including her eyeballs, brain and trachea, had been removed.

Viktoria was 27 years old.
She tried to expose Russia’s brutal detention system — and ended up dead
A consortium of international journalists continued the work of Viktoriia Roshchyna, who was investigating reports of torture and detention of Ukrainian civilians in occupied Ukraine.

Deportation. The word you're looking for is deportation. I get this is all new to you, but the violence at borders is exactly that: violence. Always has been

There are no "good" or "just" ways for masked men to snatch someone off the street and banish them on precarious evidence

Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the ‘deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation.

I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?

lol i was thinking about this earlier, even when someone like zelensky talks to trump the fidelity of the message being conveyed is already gone because trump is so fucking stupid, and then it gets progressively worse when trump repeats the dumbed-down version to his idiot supporters
