You do kinda cosplay as one.

Or maybe you've never eaten a well-cooked traditional English meal and are using outdated stereotypes to try and make a point.

If 'exceptional hardship' is a valid reason for not stopping a dangerous driver, then governments have no justification for making it harder for the disabled to get Motability cars. Loss of one certainly makes life much harder all round.

I remember this one, especially those gorgeous tiles in the kitchen. My collection of vintage cheeseboard with decorative abstract tiles would go perfectly. As would most of the stuff in my current living room.
Why isn't this in Sheffield?, dammit.

The gentleman standing on the right, watching the bonfire, is probably planning to go to the pub later on, judging by the size of his beer belly.

Emo Phillips was great.

Some cats are good rat catchers. My Navarre started with mice and worked his way up to rats.
He left me half of one under the Xmas tree one year. It was the half with the tail, so I had something to tie it to the tree with. He was so thoughtful like that.

Be hilarious if it turns out that the 'replica' part turns out to mean the gold.

Gosh. I hope you didn't lose too much to the fire.
I have 5 Poul Andersons and it's about time I read some of them again.
October 27, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Is that a bettered Poul Anderson paperback on the bookshelf? He's an author who's sadly slipped into obscurity but should be better known.
See also Edmund Cooper.

The spring onion is good, but I don't recommend the Canadian Ham. We were all disappointed with that one.

No. Fascists and liberals are pretty much opposites on the political scale.
October 21, 2025 at 4:16 PM
You don't understand what the word liberal means, do you ?
October 21, 2025 at 3:39 PM
Why do you think liberals are against equity for workers ? That sounds pretty much the opposite of social equality.
October 21, 2025 at 2:20 PM
Again, you make yourself sound biased and political by using the term liberal/libs. It's lost it's real meaning and become something mindlessly used to condemn. Find a better way to express yourself.
October 21, 2025 at 12:58 PM
He's pretty well-toned for a couch potato who sits in a barrel day after day, living on handouts.
October 21, 2025 at 11:52 AM
It's not just 'liberals' who want them banned though. That fact you want to make gun violence into an excuse to bash 'liberals' says a lot about you and your narrow-mindedness.
October 21, 2025 at 3:51 AM
A majority of Americans are in favour of better gun control. 'Assault rifles' were actually banned for a few years, but pressure from the NRA & the politicians they fund, rolled that back & prevent real action from happening.
October 21, 2025 at 2:51 AM
That's a similar in principle to the tv licence funding the BBC. It works, but you'd end up with people whing 'I don't listen to music/read books/buy art, so why should I pay to support it ?'
October 20, 2025 at 12:51 PM
That's just overexcitement. Studies have shown that it's not quantities of sugar that makes kids hyper, it's excitement and stimulation.
Sugar+party= hyper kids
Sugar+sit down storytime= calm kids.

In Norfolk we used to earn a bit of cash for strawberry picking. You just turned up at the field and picked until you'd had enough or earned enough to buy an lp, or whatever it was you wanted. We were paid by the punnet. It was really hard on the back though.
