The life expectancy is not under 40, that's a misinterpretation of research that was spread around.

Antivaxxers think autistic people are generated by AI, hence the stereotypes about autistic people being robotic
(joke)

Drone shows should entirely replace fireworks.
Drone shows look cooler while also not disrupting my ability to think or sleep.

I'm increasingly annoyed about how people so easily blame voters (which, fuck trump voters) but refuse to criticize the way the dem's campaign.
Because I'm still thinking the Dems might of lost intentionally this time, why else ditch marginalized groups constantly and appeal to trump's base.

tbh
not sure
help exists
at least, now

It can be incredibly difficult to access mental or physical healthcare as an autistic person.

Like if you'd stop hyper fixating on our genitals like a bunch of damn perverts who watch too much porn, stop accusing us as a collective of random ass violence, not spend more time thinking about us than we do, and stop trying to limit our rights-
-Most of us wouldn't give half a shit.
givememorelegs.bsky.social
I wish someone would explain to the transphobic people that I and a lot of us trans people genuinely do not give a shit if they think we are "really" our gender, we just want them to mind their own business.
Probably wouldn't be friends with them, sure.
But leave us alone and no one cares.

Maybe instead of trying to divide autism in two crudely with a chainsaw, we could actually focus on making sure we and our families get the supports we need.
But no, some people would rather argue with autistic adults about how they don't know "real" autism, and must somehow never struggle.
givememorelegs.bsky.social
I hate the way some people's understanding of autism has been flattened down so much. Even if we accepted (I do not think we should, as they do a disservice to most autistic people) functioning labels, too many people can't even acknowledge
"moderate" as an option. 🙄

Schools are more accommodating of parents who hate LGBT people than they are for disabled kids.

That's wrong.

-Assuming people are faking can do a lot of harm when you are wrong. It's really easy to be wrong. It's a safer bet to correct misinformation rather than claim people are faking.

-real or fake off of short-form media. If you neither know someone or are their doctor, you've no way to know their stims or meltdowns are fake. Or really anything about their lives other than what they curate for social media. And autism is really variable in different people.
givememorelegs.bsky.social
Look I get that some people are annoying, I've personally had my fill of anyone claiming, "Autism isn't a disability" or "Meltdowns/self harmful stims aren't autism" and shit, if autism isn't disabling at all for someone they aren't autistic.
Still there is no way to know if someone's autism is-

3/3 Even when it comes to directly killing people, *most* would do so in circumstances it is normalized in.
Otherwise, people wouldn't be able to go to war, and the military would be trying to recruit rather than screen out mentally ill people.
That's also why whole societies can assist genocide.
givememorelegs.bsky.social
IMO the reason people always want to blame mental illness is it gives them an "out" from considering how they themselves might be capable of harming others.
Everyone can harm people, and anyone can become a tool of systemic or interpersonal violence, no illness needed. 2/3
givememorelegs.bsky.social
This goes for all mental illness (including personality disorders)
Evil doesn't come from illness.
For example billionaires aren't sociopaths, they are protecting their class interests which happen to go against the interests of most humanity. They are protecting their "role" in the system. 1/3

stop. calling. evil people. psychotic.

ppl in psychosis are far more likely to be harmed than to harm others. ppl in psychosis make up a LARGE portion of ppl killed by cops. mentally ill ppl aren't your scapegoats. use your words and call this what it is instead of throwing us under the bus.

im going to go out on a limb and say, this is psychotic

it's instructive to ask, what would have stopped them from doing this? what could anyone have done differently that would have led them to conclude this extraordinary thing was unnecessary? and the answer is nothing

So, to no surprise, 'brand new ABA' is still barely considering whether its goals are relevant to autistic people.
Sigh.
