Glacier Peak, the least seen of the Cascade volcanos, rises above valleys where smoke from nearby fires has settled. A hiker looks on, and is dwarfed by the scene.

I apologize for the lateness of this report.

That was a memorable day ... 🏔️🌋
The Cascadia megathrust earthquake was a M9 event that took place more than 300 years ago. Canadian History Ehx's threaded summary of the event is a good read, and their podcast is well worth subscribing to.

Also Cascadia Megathrust would be a fine name for a magmacore grungehop band.
On this day in 1700 CE at approximately 9 p.m. PT, an 8.7-9.2 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of present-day British Columbia.
The Juan de Fuca plate slipped by 20 metres along 1,000 km fault rupture.
Let's learn more about this event

I'm just so gorgeous that I have to hide a little bit! 🏔️🌋
Dakobed (Glacier Peak) reaches 10,525' above sea level but doesn't receive the hype of some of Washington's other stratovolcanoes. This is likely because it's not as easily accessed and is nestled among some other high peaks which block views of this mountain from many angles/locations.

This sunset is an addendum to the previous post showing the alpenglow on Dakobed (Glacier Peak) and how lucky I got that the sun broke under the cloud layer.
