I can skim written instructions to focus on that which I need to know. Video demonstrations have their place, but that place is NOT to replace the written word.
Just saw someone unironically recommending to check TikTok for instructions on how to do something and no, I will not be doing that. YouTube is bad enough. Bring back written instructions!

@annehelen.bsky.social listening to the pod this morning and left off at your remark about “parental rights trump all else”—what a way to encapsulate so much of what’s happening in the US rn.

Fun fact: in the 1960s, Civil Rights protestors were given literal classes on nonviolent protest; they didn't all just spontaneously know what to do.

So, if you're planning on showing up, this weekend: read this comic. And if you're staying home, signal-boost it/link it around.
I did my best to compile as many protest safety notes as possible into a one page foldout zine! Coincidentally…it seems the file has breached containment…like it’s available for anyone to print or hand out 👀⚖️

One thing I miss about Twitter is being able to yell at businesses. Just had the worst experience with CVS Photo and I’m so bitter I can’t tell them about it in the social media public square.

“Working within the executive branch felt like working at a large tech company, except where business strategy was outsourced to Congress, and software engineering was outsourced to contractors like IBM, Accenture, Deloitte, and Booz Allen Hamilton.” Yep.
One DOGE person actually believed that DOGE was about government software modernization. He kept talking about it. So they fired him.

Please stop sharing the post claiming tornado warnings were late + people died in Kentucky because NWS was understaffed. It took a lot of extra planning to compensate for the Doge-induced shortages but they say they were staffed "for the entirety of the event." www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2025...
How a tornado tested a Kentucky weather office that cut overnight staff
The Jackson, Kentucky, office is one of a growing number of forecast offices unable to cover an overnight shift since the Trump administration cut staffing levels through buyouts and firings.

Make your calls. Go to your town halls. Ask your state and local officials what they are doing under state and local law. Rest. Hydrate. Make soup for the hungry. Don’t let people tell you that you’re doing it wrong. Not a sprint. Not a marathon. A relay. Find your team. Thank you.
