JUST IN: The Republican Mayor of Fairbanks, Alaska’s second biggest city, lost re-election last night to a Democrat.

Mayor David Pruhs is a conservative who fought protections for LGBTQ+ residents; he made comments this year drew condemnation this year from Alaska Natives. He lost to Mindy O'Neall.

One of the things I have found . . . irritating. . . on a personal level about the last decade of Comedians Do A Free Speech Warriorism bullshit is the way it has dominated our ideas of humor as political and political humor, similar to "satire" somehow now meaning, like, South Park.

I'm always tickled at the idea he spent like 5-6 years at least thinking there were multiple specifically bisexual specifically women in his life and they just hadn't felt the need to say anything to him about it b/c being a girl is normal and being bi is normal so like, whatever. Meanwhile...

I mean it was hilarious and weird for everyone involved, and resulted in him also asking me "WAIT does that mean (mutual friend) doesn't know that they're, ya know-?" The friend in question would not come out as trans for three. more. years. "I just thought she knew! I thought you both knew!"

My spouse ended up asking me if I wanted to try coming out again, because he didn't know that I didn't know that I was bisexual when we'd started dating several years before and therefore did not know that what I was doing was coming out until several awkward sentences into a very confusing convo.

It's clear by now that the Democrats won't press this case as aggressively as it needs to be pressed, and the media won't do that unless they have Democrats' quotes to use as a springboard either.

They won't do this work, so it's even more important that we circulate these stories ourselves.
